About the Proctor MkV
Designed in 1954 to carry weight, the MkV reduces wetted area by having a more V sectioned hull than the MkIVs. Increased keel rocker also made tacking faster. Good inland, but hairy in high winds.
Early 12s had the 90 sq ft of sail area divided 60:30 between main and jib, and regulations forbidding full length top battens reduced the extra area available in the roach of the main. Fitting a newer set of sails can transform the performance of these boats.
